May Kong LeePalao

My full name is May Kong Christine LeePalao. It's a mouthful-it's got 24 letters! It's quite a hassle when the school system mistakes my first name as "May" and my middle name as "Kong Christine". I end up with the name "May LeePalao". Who has a middle name "Kong Christine"?!?! My name is May Kong, but I have to tell new teachers every year the same thing. It's hard enough when you have two other sisters with the names of May Ky and May Ka; and the school system does the same thing to their names.

I have eight brothers and sisters (nine including me). I am 17 years old and was born the year of the Ox. I am from a small village by the name of Cacao in the country French Guiana. Not a lot of people know about this country, but it is directly above Brazil. I am Hmong and when I tell people I was born in French Guiana, they look surprised and exclaim, "Really?"

I love to read-romance, thriller, adventure-anything really. I read for fun, I read for school, I read when I'm bored. I love to write as well. I write stories, journals, notes, e-mails, letters-you name it. I've been writing short stories since I was a little kid.
I play badminton and tennis. I am a doubles partner in both sports but I may be switching to singles in tennis this coming season. I get annoyed when people doubt the validity of categorizing badminton as a sport. Of course it's a sport! Those people are usually the ones who've never played before, or just "dabbled" a bit with meekly hitting the birdie back and fourth. I remember this one guy asking once, "Uh…this may sound dumb, but…is there any strategy to badminton?" I just answered with a polite, "Yes."

I am a pretty patient and understanding person. I don't lose my temper often and usually think before I act. When I do lose my temper, it's usually with good reason, but the steam blows off shortly. I'm not one to hold a grudge.
Math is my best subject. I've been involved in Math Olympiad, Math Masters, and Math Team during my school years. I finished all my math courses in school. I don't have any more to take-except perhaps Multiple Variables, but then I'd have to take a daily jaunt to a university and I suppose I can't find the motivation to commit myself to that.

I like children and have a lot of experience with babysitting. I am probably going to end up at the U of M-Twin Cities. I want to go to grad school and study medicine. Maybe I'll become a pediatrician, who knows? Right now, all I want to concentrate on is school and sports and the present.
