AP/IB Credit for Math and Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science awards credit for AP/IB calculus and statistics courses as follows:

Math AB with score 4 or 5 The student earns immediate credit for Math 194, Topics in College Calculus, with a grade of “pass.” The student may take Math 137, Single Variable Calculus, but might opt to take Math 135, Applied Calculus.

Math AB with score 3 The student may take either Math 135 or Math 137. Upon successful completion of either of these courses, credit is earned for Math 194, Topics in College Calculus, with a grade of “pass.”

Math BC with score 4 or 5 The student earns immediate credit for Math 137 with a grade of “pass” and may take Math 236 or Math 237. The student also earns immediate credit for Math 194 with a grade of “pass.”

Math BC with score 3 The student earns immediate credit for Math 194, Topics in College Calculus, with a grade of “pass” and may take either Math 236 or 237. Upon successful completion of either of these courses, credit is also earned for Math 137 with a grade of “pass.”

IB with score 6 or 7 same as BC with score 3.

IB with score 5 same as AB with score 3.

Statistics with score 4 or 5 The student earns immediate credit for Math 153 with a grade of “pass.” Such students may elect to take Math 155, in which case they will also get credit for Math 153 with a grade of “pass.”
