Coach's Conference

This event is in July and coaches and their spouses or significant others are invited to the Macalester College campus to participate in the two day event.  This year it will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 25–26, 2008.  This event is free of charge and includes a social event on Saturday evening.  The ADC Foundation graciously will again sponsor the social dinner and production of Forever Plaid at the Old Log Theater.

The conference will begin with a panel presentation on ARML (American Regions Mathematics League), and will include an explanation of how we got involved, how an ARML meet is structured, how we select our team, how the team is trained, who comes to the tournament, the associations that participants develop and more.  You will get a collection of problems that kids encounter at these tournaments.  Be prepared to try a relay problem or two.

On Saturday, Andy Niedermaier, former math league student and present problem writing team member, will share some of his impressions of the ARML experience, both as a student on our Minnesota team and later as a coach.

There will also be opportunities to meet the League’s new Director Elect, to provide input on division realignment and by-law revisions, and to network with other coaches in a relaxed and informal setting.
