Programs
The staff of the MAX Center work with Macalester students in the
areas of Biology, Chemistry, Math and Writing. They also offer workshops
and work with students in other areas:
ADA Academic Accommodation
The MAX staff, working with the Dean of Students Office, provide
certain academic assistance for students under the Americans with
Disabilities Act.
Time Management and Study Skills
Students can receive help from both the counselors and the peer
tutors in the areas of time management and study skills. Call for
more information.
GRE Workshops
Each semester, the counselors conduct workshops on Preparation for
the GRE. Students wishing help on their graduate tests (including
GMAT, MCAT and LSAT) can receive guidance or individual assistance
from the MAX staff.
TIP: Start working on your vocabulary for the Verbal portion
of the test. Resources on the Web can help:

Word of the Day and Wordsmith's
A.Word.A.Day, which has a feature allowing you to receive
their daily word by e-mail. Come to the MAX Center for a free workbook
of prefixes, root words and suffixes.
