"Quick and Easy Forms without HTML or Javascript"

Eric Hinsdale, Carleton College
Room 143 (2nd level Buntrock Commons)
It’s easy to create custom search forms for searching
the III online catalog IF you know a little HTML and
JavaScript, or know someone who has the time to help
you. At Carleton College we’ve developed a tool
to allow anyone to create custom search forms without
having to know any programming or mark-up languages.
Eric will demonstrate how this tool works and let you
know how to set it up for your institution.
Choice B:
"Collaborative Collection Development"

Mary Sue Lovett, St. Olaf College; Kristi
Wermanger, Carleton College
Room 143 (2nd level Buntrock Commons)
Last year, the Bridge Consortium (Carleton and St. Olaf
College Libraries) received a grant from the Mellon
Foundation to create and implement a plan for cooperative
collection development. During the first phase of the
project, we have been gathering statistics on all aspects
of our respective collections. We are using III's create
lists, statistics, and scat table features, as well
as an OCLC product called WorldCat Collection Analysis.
In this presentation, we'll show what we've discovered
so far, and how you might use these tools at your library.

Macalester College Library and Web Services staff cooperated
to provide an online new titles service highlighting
new books & media added to the DeWitt Wallace Library
collections. Library staff developed the specifications
and procedures necessary to extract data from III, Millennium.
Web Services staff developed a web query interface for
this data. We will share our experience, lessons learned,
and plans for "phase 2" features of the new
titles service. For a preview of the service, visit:

wikis being used for professional development, instruction,
and collaborative projects. We'll also talk about using
