Macalester Choirs Fall Choral Concert: Timeless Melodies

The Macalester Concert Choir, the Singing Scotsmen of Macalester and the Hildegard Singers (Women’s Ensemble) will perform a wide variety of music based upon chants, carols, folk songs, and traditional music. The Macalester Concert Choir will be performing a newly commissioned work by Jan Gilbert based on a medieval Persian text by Hafiz.

An Evening of Jazz
featuring the Macalester Concert Choir and the Mac Jazz Big Band with special guest Geri Allen

The Macalester Concert Choir and the Mac Jazz Big Band collaborate in a joint concert with the internationally known and award-winning jazz pianist, composer and arranger, Ms. Geri Allen. Professor Allen will conduct several masterclasses and rehearsals; culminating in a final performance with both the choir and jazz band.

Major Works Concert: Symphony of Psalms by Igor Stravinsky

The Macalester Combined Choirs unite with the Festival Chorale (faculty, staff and community members) to sing Stravinsky's hauntingly-impassioned Symphony of Psalms. In addition, a new composition by Dr. Carleton Macy, Macalester College's long-standing theory and composition professor, will be performed.
