Wind Ensemble:

The Macalester College Wind Ensemble, directed by Cary Franklin, is an ensemble of approximately 50 players consisting of students, faculty, staff and members of the community, both professional and amateur. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:30 until 10:00, September through November and February through April. Repertoire emphasizes recent, original works for symphonic band, as well as familiar favorites. The programs of the ensemble include a wide range of styles, from light pops to serious contemporary works.

Performances are scheduled on the Macalester campus as well as other locations within the Twin Cities and neighboring communities. Local professional players and qualified students regularly appear as soloists with the ensemble.

Auditioning Dr. Franklin has written a letter regarding instrumental auditions for both wind ensemble and symphony orchestra. It is available here.
