She began her musical career in the Twin Cities singing with the Minnesota Opera, where she was a principal member of the world premiere casts of Conrad Susa's Black River and Dominic Argento’s Casanova’s Homecoming. Ms. Nichols has been a featured soloist under the batons of Robert DeCormier, John Harbison, Layton James, Joel Revson, Helmut Rilling, Kathy Romey, Robert Shaw, Osma Vanska, and Pinchas Zuckerman. Her mentors include the famed mezzo-sopranos Jan DeGaetani and Elizabeth Mannion.

Laura recently released a CD of never-before recorded songs by Anton Rubinstein and St. Paul resident Justin Busch. One can find it for sale at cdbaby.com/cd/nicolsguillaume.
