Compositions

  1. Kunkum for band and African Ensemble - commissioned by the Webster Magnet Elementary Honor Band of St. Paul, MN; premiered May 7th, 2002 at Central High School in St. Paul, MN and directed by Diane Sollenberger.
  2. Nyamo: Celebration for Symphonic Band, Chorus, and African Ensemble - commissioned by the Symphonic Band and Symphonic Choir of Kenmore Jr. High School, WA; premiered at the Washington State M.E.N.C. in Yakima, WA in February 2002. It was also performed at the National M.E.N.C. convention in Nashville, TN in April 2002.
  3. Wo Ayi Me A Ma - a choral piece commissioned by World Voices; premiered on March 11, 2000.
  4. Jaliyaa - 1999, for kora (a 21-string Mandinka harp-lute), full orchestra, and chorus.
  5. Pot of Wisdom - 1997 is a setting of an African folktale for orchestra, narrator, African ensemble, and African dancer.
  6. Ekombi for Winds and Percussion - commissioned by Harmonia Mundi; premiered by Harmonia Mundi in February 1994.
  7. Esee Sane - a composition for full Orchestra and African Drum Ensemble commissioned by and for the St. Paul Civic Symphony. It was premiered on May 14, 1995 at the Landmark Center in St. Paul, MN.
  8. Bawa for Gzil and Double wind Quintet - commissioned and premiered by Harmonia Mundi in April 1996.
  9. The Tapper - commissioned and premiered by the Minnesota Sinfonia in May 1996.
