Molecular Mechanism Money
Devavani Chatterjea, assistant professor of biology, was recently awarded a three-year $482,000 Academic Research Enhancement Award (AREA) by The National Institutes of Health. The ARE A awards recognize scholars heading meritorious research programs with a human health focus and engagement of students in biomedical research careers.
This award will fund Chatterjea’s research into the cellular and molecular mechanisms of immune cell involvement in inflammatory pain. It will also provide research support for Macalester students.
