Author Daniel Gilbert to Speak at Opening Convocation Sept. 4

Author Daniel Gilbert, bestselling author of Stumbling on Happiness and professor of psychology at Harvard University, will speak at Macalester’s opening convocation at 11:30 a.m., Thu., Sept. 4, in the Alumni Gymnasium in the Leonard Center.   The topic of his talk is “Stumbling on Happiness.”

Macalester Names Rev. Kelly J. Stone Chaplain and Associate Dean for Religious and Spiritual Life

Rev. Kelly J. Stone has been named Chaplain and Associate Dean for Religious and Spiritual Life at Macalester College and will begin her new duties at the end of this month.  Stone will oversee the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, which includes student religious groups, programs and events, and Weyerhaeuser Memorial Chapel.

Macalester President receives $250,000 senior presidential leadership grant from the Mellon Foundation

Macalester College President Brian Rosenberg has been awarded a $250,000 senior presidential leadership grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support initiatives arising from the college’s strategic planning process. The grant, which is made by invitation only, will start in September 2014 and end in August 2017.
