Art Professor Godollei Wins Thomas Jefferson Award

Ruthann Godollei, Professor of Art, has been awarded the 2013 Thomas Jefferson Award. The award was established in 1961 by the Robert Earll McConnell Foundation to honor faculty members who exemplify the principles and ideals of Thomas Jefferson. Godollei was selected by a committee of past Jefferson Award winners.
2013 Projects for Peace winners

Four Macalester students, Valentino Grbavac ‘15, Andrea Grimaldi ’16, Omar Mansour ’16 and Joseph Sengeh ‘16, have received grants to undertake projects for peace in two different regions of the world. One student will help improve the quality of education in the town of Ljubuški in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the other three will work in the Sierra Leonean community of Kpetema Village building toilets and new roofs while increasing awareness of healthy sanitation practices.
Macalester English Professor Peter Bognanni is one of 19 writers who’s been granted an American Academy of Arts and Letters 2013 award in literature. The awards will be presented in New York in May at the Academy’s annual Ceremonial.
