Grand Opening Jan. 30 featuring discounts, prizes and refreshments

Highlander, the official store for Macalester College, will host a Grand Opening celebration on Wednesday, January 30. Officially opening in its new location at 32 S. Snelling late last year, Highlander now offers longer hours and expanded product assortments – including robust selections of clothing, gifts, supplies, course materials, and more.

Macalester grants tenure status to seven faculty members

Macalester College presents guitarist Bill Frisell

Former Macalester Trustee W. John Driscoll dead at 83

W. John Driscoll of Sunfish Lake, Minn., died peacefully Saturday, December 22, 2012, at home with his family. A long-time supporter of Macalester College, Driscoll fought Parkinson's for many years. He was 83.

French Meadow Bakery & Café to open in St. Paul near Macalester
December 10, 2012

French Meadow Bakery & Café is coming to St. Paul.  The bakery and café will open at 1662-66 Grand Ave., former home to Coat of Many Colors and Coffee News Cafe. French Meadow on Grand will occupy the entire first floor of the building that is owned by Macalester College. In January the company will begin renovations and is expected to open in May 2013.

Macalester College Theatre and Dance Department Presents Face to Face, Dec. 7-8

The Macalester College Theatre and Dance Department presents Face to Face, the 2012 Fall Dance Concert, with new works by students, faculty, and guest artist Luke Olson-Elm. Performances are at the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center, Main Stage Theater, 1600 Grand Ave., St. Paul, at 7:30 p.m. on December 7, and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on December 8. Geography Professor Receives AAG Media Achievement Award

Macalester part of three-year collaborative NSF grant promoting undergraduate research

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded Macalester College and 18 other colleges and universities across the United States a three-year collaborative grant in the amount of $437,883 in support of undergraduate research.  The 19 undergraduate-focused institutions are a consortium known as “The Undergraduate ALFALFA Team” (UAT).
