Mike Anderson is the resident and caretaker of the College's field station, the Katharine Ordway Natural History Study Area.  He is also the laboratory instructor for two of the Department's core courses: Ecology, and Biodiversity and Evolution.   Anderson is in the process of completing his PhD from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, where his dissertation research focuses on the evolution of mutualistic interactions between Alaskan alder plants and the nitrogen-fixing bacterial genus Frankia.  He was recently awarded an NSF pre-doctoral fellowship to support this research.  Anderson lives at KONHSA with his wife and two sons, and in his spare time enjoys exlporing the field station's natural environments with them.
