New Student Orientation 2008
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Macalester College community. We are delighted that you have decided to attend Macalester College, and we feel confident that your experience here will be an opportunity for personal and intellectual growth. We know that you will find Macalester an exciting and challenging environment for learning.
We expect that through the summer months you will begin to think about what life will be like at Macalester. The information available on this website, as well as the activities during Orientation 2008, are designed to help prepare you for your transition to college life. We encourage you to read all the areas carefully and participate in all the activities when you arrive on campus.
At Macalester, in the true sense of a liberal arts college, you will find that learning opportunities exist both in and out of the classroom. We encourage you to take advantage of as many of the opportunities as possible. When you arrive on campus for Orientation, you will meet with your academic adviser and other staff of the College who stand ready to help you take full advantage of this environment and meet the challenges that it offers. By fully engaging in the life of the College, you will gain more from the academic rigor and Macalester’s diverse and supportive community. While at Mac, we expect you to think about who you will be in life, as well as what careers you might pursue.

Orientation To Do List
The following list contains forms or documents that need to be completed, accompanied by their assigned due dates. You may follow the respective links for more information.
Due by June 18th, 2008
As of now, the registrar is working on new student schedules. The schedule found on 1600grand is current but is subject to change. During orientation, you will be receiving a finalized course schedule.
Between July 1st and August 15th, 2008
Due by July 15th, 2008 (Athletes only)
- Health Form –includes health history, physical, TB, and immunization records (required for athletes by 7/15/2008)
Due by July 18th, 2008
Due by August 1st, 2008
Due by August 8, 2008 (Parents)
- Café Mac Meal Tickets Student Meal plans will start upon arriving at Mac. Meal tickets are for parents and family.
Due by August 15, 2008
