September 4 - 6, 2009

New Student Orientation begins Sept 4, 2009. This on-campus program is designed to acquaint your child with the culture, services and resources available to students and family members as your child adjusts to being a successful student at Macalester.

Also note that you can purchase Café Mac Meal tickets here, allowing you to share in meal times with your son or daughter.

A full, detailed schedule for orientation will be posted in mid-August, but for now we want to provide you with some basic details:

Parent Orientation Schedule

Friday, September 4

AM:
Residence Halls Open at 8am
*Students can move in anytime between 8 – 5, but keep in mind that the 8am – 10 am will be the busiest.
“MacChips” reception for Alumni parents and their incoming students           

PM:
Picnic Dinner for new students and families 
New Student Convocation  
Parent Welcome and Social

 

Saturday, September 5
AM:
Meet the Residential Life Staff
Discussion with the Dean of Students & Director of Academic Programs
Absolute Reality – Alcohol, Health and Wellness at Macalester
Meet your student’s FY Course professor and academic advisor

PM:
Conversations w/Current Students
Breakout sessions, including:
-Campus Tours
-Mock Classes
-Transition issues
Resource Fair
President’s Reception for Parents

Sunday, September 6
AM:
Ecumenical Worship Service
Parent/Family Farewell
