Philosophy


Students from Macalester's Philosophy program have pursued a wide variety of careers following graduation, including the Peace Corps, law school, and graduate programs in Philosophy. Listed to the right are a few examples of the careers of Macalester Philosophy alumni/nae.


David Sackris '06 (Elk Grove, Ill.) is pursuing a master’s in philosophy at the University of Chicago.


Jamie Schmeits '06 (Dispuitanta,Va.) is pursing a master’s degree in eastern classics at St. John’s College, Santa Fe

Carolyn Jean Gonter '04 (South Bend, Ind.) attends the University of Minnesota Medical School.


Masha Marchevsky '04 (Apple Valley, Minn.) is studying law at the University of Minnsota.


Nicholas Napolitan '04 (Apple Valley, Minn.) is studying law at Columbia University.

Ryan Long '99 (New York, N.Y.) spent two years doing computer work for a New York City company and recieved his master's in philosophy at Tufts University. He is now pursuing a Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of Chicago.


Robert Rosenthal '98 (St. Paul, Minn) graduated from Duke University Law School in 2003.


Sebestain Lange '98 (Germany) joined Microsoft as a software producer and specialist in artificial intelligence. He is now attending the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, pursuing a Ph.D in philosophy.
