Summer
Physics Institute
The Macalester Summer Physics Institute offers a
full-year
credit, algebra-based college physics course with laboratory, suitable
for pre-med requirments. A limited number of on-campus housing
contracts are available.
The Institute is run by Professor Sung Kyu Kim, who has taught summer
physics at Macalester for more than 20 years, in addition to his duties
as professor of physics during the regular academic year.
The 2009 Institute will run over two four-week semesters from June 1st
- July 24th, 2009.

INTRODUCTORY PHYSICS I (June 1st - June 26th)
Mechanics, heat
and sound, including laboratory experiments and
extensive demonstrations. Daily lectures and help sessions, three two
hour laboratories per week. Summer Physics Institute only. (4 credits)

Electricity and
magnetism, light and optics, modern physics, including
