Advantages of a Political Science Major

"Political Science, the study of civics and government, is fundamental to understanding yourrights and responsibilities as a citizen as well as comprehending international politics and law. As a political science major, you will hone the writing, communication, analytical and computer skills that are critical to a liberal arts education. This kind of education will prepare you to think critically and independently, with tolerance of others and concern for current affairs.

"Majoring in political science can qualify you for many different careers in private for-profit and nonprofit organizations, as well as public sector organizations, including careers in business, law, consulting, state, local, and federal government, journalism and communications, international organizations, finance, political campaigns, interest groups, community service and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and pre-college and college teaching.

"Political science training also provides valuable preparation for participating in community organizations, electoral politics, movement on behalf of specific policies, and especially for seeking elective or appointive positions in government."
