Bon Appetite’s “Circle of Responsibility”:
Macalester’s food service provider Bon Appetite seeks to provide sustainable, local, and organic food to the Macalester community. The company’s “Circle of Responsibility” reflects its business practices and promotion of sustainable food.

Clean Energy Revolving Fund (CERF) at Macalester:
The Clean Energy Revolving Fund (CERF) program at Macalester aims to demonstrate environmentally and socially sustainable financial practices. By funding energy efficient, renewable energy projects, and cost-saving projects aty Macalester, CERF enables sustainable projects to self-fund and demonstrate that Macalester can become a sustainable community.

Clovernook Center
The Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired promotes independence for the blind and visually impaired in Cincinnati, Ohio and Memphis, Tennessee. Through its Employment Center, Clovernook members produces millions of paper products, including 100% compostable, biodegradable, and environmentally-friendly paper cups. Macalester is now purchasing 50,000 Clovernook cups a year.

Eureka! Recycling
"Eureka Recycling is a nonprofit organization that specializes in recycling and waste reduction and manages Saint Paul’s recycling program. Our mission is to reduce waste today through innovative resource management and to reach a waste-free tomorrow by demonstrating that waste is preventable not inevitable." The Fair Trade Federation:
The FTF "is an association of fair trade wholesalers, retailers, and producers whose members are fully committed to providing fair wages and good employment opportunities to economically disadvantaged artisans and farmers worldwide. FTF members link low-income producers with consumer markets and educate consumers about the importance of purchasing fairly traded products which support living wages and safe and healthy conditions for workers in the developing world." The Green Institute
:
The Green Institute, based in Minneapolis, is a non-profit group with a mission to “sustain the environment and our communities through practical innovation.” This is accomplished through the development of clean community energy resources, selling reusable building materials, creating eco-friendly buildings, promoting community gardens and sustainable landscaping. This organization is an amazing example of a sustainable business that provides alternative to traditional environmentally harmful building practices.

Green Seal:
Green Seal is a non-profit organization that tests products to certify them as "green." Green Seal tests and evaluates products to give its Green "Seal of Approval" indicating that the product meets high environmental standards. This website enables users to find "green" certified products and services.

Peace Coffee:
Based in Minneapolis, Peace Coffee obtains its fair trade coffee from cooperatives in Mexico, Sumatra, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Peru, Nicaragua and Colombia. The company roasts and packages its coffee in an eco-friendly system in Minneapolis and delivers the product by bicycle whenever possible and by biodiesel van for further distances. Macalester currently serves Peace Coffee in Café Mac.

The WRC is an organization that monitors the factories that produce collegiate apparel. Macalester is an affiliate member and receives up-to-date information about the business practices of our licensed suppliers.
