Tenure Track Faculty Positions 2008-2009
Religious Studies
Asian Religions
Macalester College invites applications for a tenure track assistant/associate professor position in Asian Religions (East Asia or Southeast Asia) in the Department of Religious Studies beginning Fall 2008. (We are currently well served in the field of South Asian Religions). PhD or equivalent required by the time of appointment. The typical load is four courses in the first year of appointment, five courses thereafter, including broad introductory courses and more specialized seminars. Priority will be given to candidates with broad comparative interests. We seek applicants who can also contribute to the overall intellectual life of the College, especially in Asian Studies and such programs as Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. The faculty member will also serve as an academic adviser for students, and may direct independent studies each semester.

Biblical Studies

The typical teaching load is four courses in the first year of appointment, five courses thereafter, including courses in Hebrew Bible and New Testament. Priority will be given to candidates with broad comparative interests. We seek applicants who can also contribute to the overall intellectual life of the College, which may include involvement in such programs as the First Year Seminar or interdisciplinary programs such as our new concentration in Middle Eastern Studies/Islamic Civilization. The faculty member will also serve as an academic adviser for students, and may direct independent studies each semester.
