Art and Art History
Assistant/Associate Professor, Art Historian
The Art and Art History Department at Macalester College seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in Art History with a specialty in Asian art and the ability to offer courses that connect the arts of Asia to other cultures and to the Asian diaspora. The successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate curriculum and will teach introductory, intermediate, and upper-level courses in Asian art and outside of that area of specialization, including a range of topic oriented courses and the senior Art History Methodology Seminar. The Department welcomes candidates with contemporary approaches to the study of art history and visual culture. The art history program is integrated with a vigorous studio program in a liberal arts undergraduate college. Cross-listings with Asian Studies and other programs in the college are strongly encouraged. New art history facilities along with a superb Asian collection at the Minneapolis Institute of Art will provide additional opportunities for the enhancement of the art history curriculum and the mission of the college.

Non-Tenure Track Positions
Environmental Studies – U.S. Environmental History
The Macalester College Department of Environmental Studies invites applications for a
one-year visiting position in environmental history to begin Fall 2012. PhD or advanced
ABD required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach five courses total,
including one section of U.S. Environmental History per semester and three additional
topics courses cross-listed between Environmental Studies and History.
The Environmental Studies Department emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to
the study of environmental issues. We seek applicants who are committed to excellence
in teaching and research in an interdisciplinary, liberal arts setting. We are especially
interested in candidates committed to advancing the College's mission of educational
excellence with a special emphasis on multiculturalism, internationalism, and civic

Statistics
Applications are invited for one-‐year, non-‐tenure track for the academic year 2012-‐13. Candidates must have or be completing the PhD in Statistics, or a related field. They must have a strong commitment to teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts environment. This person will be expected to teach 5 courses over two semesters.
Macalester offers an attractive environment for mathematical scientists. We offer majors in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, and Computer Science. We have developed innovative introductory courses, and we have close relationships with several client disciplines in the social, life, and physical sciences. Our statistics program enjoys special ties to the departments of Biology and Economics, and to our Community and Global Health Program.
