Tenure Track Faculty Positions 2008-2009
Music
Macalester College Music Department seeks a choral conductor as Director of Choral Activities, a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The successful candidate will have a completed doctorate or equivalent experience, and should be an active conductor. Conducting and teaching experience at the college level are required. The position includes benefits and salary commensurate with experience.
The Music Department offers a general music major, including courses in theory/composition, historical musicology, and ethnomusicology. Students study performance and participate in ensembles including Symphony Orchestra, Band, MacJazz, Choirs, Early Music, Pipe Band and African Music Ensemble. The person we seek will have the ability to lead a thriving choral program, to inspire students and to foster artistic and academic excellence in music. He/she will help to coordinate instruction in the studio voice program. The position will include some teaching within the music curriculum. We seek applicants who can contribute to the broader intellectual life of the College, which may include involvement in such activities as First Year courses or faculty seminars. Successful applicants may also contribute to the advancement of one or more of the College’s interdisciplinary programs.
