Symptoms of Huntington's Disease

Although motor abnormalities are usually the initial characteristics of Huntington's disease, it is not all that uncommon for personality and mood changes to precede other signs. The early symptoms of emotional changes that may be observed in the patient include:

  • Anxiety and paranoia
  • Agitation and irritation
  • Confusion
  • Temper tantrums
  • Dementia
  • Depression and despair
