Subtypes of ADD/ADHD

The three subtypes of ADD/ADHD are:

I) ADD/ADHD Predominantly Combined Type,

II) ADD/ADHD Predominantly Inattentive Type, and

III) ADD/ADHD Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type.

These subtypes account for the fact that not all people with

ADD/ADHD have the same symptoms:

-Some people with ADD/ADHD have little or no trouble sitting still, but may be easily taken of task by distractions in the environment.

-Other people with ADD/ADHD may be able to pay attention but may have an inability to control impulse and activity.

-Most people with ADD/ADHD have the combined type which includes both of these traits.
