Dead Mad

"The author Ruth Inglis in her book Sins of Fathers, notes a strong relationship between children and subsequent violent behaviour" In support of this, a study by Webster-Stratton in 1985 found that parents who were abused as children, were more negative and controlling in their interactions with their own children. The supports the social learning model that parents who were abused as children were more likely to abuse their own children thus continuing the cycle. Another study by Dean et all in 1986 noted that children who were maltreated believed that their parents were justified in treating them unkindly due to their own (child's) bad behaviour. Psychologists believe that the earlier these children are victimized, the more difficult it is for them to understand what is happening to them. In addition to this, the children will be less competent in expressing what is done to them and how it makes them feel. The only way the child can communicate it by acting out. These negative feelings that a child has are those that exacerbate the internal anger and violence.
