So I had already done this whole page, but for some reason or another it didn't work. So right now I am really quite upset with the computer world. So forgive me if the tone of this diary entry is curt or hurried.

Basically what I want to say is that music and other forms of art can be so useful and crucial in the therapy of people. After reading the chapter in the Oliver Sack's book (The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat) about Rebecca, it is readily apparent that sometimes doctors - particularly those who work with neurologically damaged people- tend to focus on the deficits that people have. The tests they administer bring these out, the tasks they have the patients do, brings these out. His amazing patient Rebecca made him realize that what really needs to be done is to play up their talents and put less emphasis on what they can't do. And isn't that the truth for all of us really? Who wants to feel frustrated and like an idiot? Not many would volunteer for that position.

So anyway, I know this entry is boring and short, but the one I did on this topic before was much better. If I ever find it in the depths of my computer I'll put it back on. Until then...who knows.
