The Department of Psychology has obtained archival material from the estate of Dr. C. Gilbert Wrenn, an eminent counseling psychologist. Dr. Wrenn received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1932 and was a professor of educational psychology at the University of Minnesota from 1936-1964. He completed his teaching career at Arizona State University in 1970 and died in 2001. Dr. Wrenn was the founding editor of the Journal of Counseling Psychology in the mid 1950's, served as president of the Division of Counseling Psychology of the American Psychological Association, and authored or edited over 400 books, book chapters, and professional articles. Many of those articles are now in the archive in the Macalester Psychology Department; please consult the department coordinator to view them. These articles and related papers were contributed to the department by Robert L. Wrenn, Gilbert's son, who graduated from Macalester in 1955, received his Ph.D. in psychology from the Ohio State University, and recently retired as Director of the Counseling Center at the University of Arizona.
