Exorcism

In the Middle Ages, from A.D. 500 to 1350, Europe was heavily influenced by the power of the clergy and, therefore, superstitious and demoniacal religious beliefs dominated all education and investigation. There were incidents of mass madness, where large numbers of people would share hallucinations and delusions. These attacks of mass madness would involve Tarantism and Lycanthropy. The practice of exorcism was very popular and involved some extreme approaches to treatment.
