Cal Roetzel, Arnold H. Lowe Professor, taught Biblical studies
and Christian origins. His Paul: The Man and the Myth,
originally published by the University of South Carolina Press (and
later, in paperback, by Augsburg Fortress Press), was selected by
the Biblical Archaeology Society as "Best Popular Book Relating
to the New Testament, 1997-1998." He has recently been elected
to the Council of the Society of Biblical Literature and has lectured
locally on such topics as "Paul: Pariah or Prodigy?" and
"Sex and the Single God: Celibacy as Social Protest in the
Time of Augustus." Cal now works as a professor in Classical Near Eastern Studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
