
George Draper Dayton Hall (GDD) is located on Cambridge Street, between the Macalester Alumni House and the Cultural House. GDD is the newest structure on campus. Named after one of the benefactors of the College, the Hall opened in fall 1997 and houses upper-class students in four, five, and six person suites with common living areas and private baths. There is also the Wellness Center which acts as a student lounge/exercise and dance space equiped with cable TV and comfortable furniture. There are also seminar rooms on the third floor, available for classes, meetings and studying. Also, GDD has 2 small lounges on the second and third floors respectively.
Resident Information: GDD houses 113 juniors, seniors and a limited number of sophomores.
Bathrooms: Each suite has its own bathroom.
Laundry Facilities: A laundry room is located on each floor of GDD.
Kitchen: Each floor has a full kitchen with a microwave and a sink.
Computer Labs/Internet Access: The nearest lab is located in Kagin Commons or Dupre Hall. All rooms are Ethernet accessible.
Lounges: There are no lounges in GDD; however, each room has its own private lounge or common room.
General Room Information: GDD consists of suite-style rooms for 4, 5, or 6 students. Every suite has its own lounge and bathroom. All rooms are air-conditioned.

The cottages are located directly across the street from the Admissions Office at 53, 57, and 63 Macalester Street as well as 1662 Princeton Ave. Established as a residential living area in 1996, the Cottages offer a more independent living environment. Each unique, single-sex house is occupied by 3 to 6 students. The cottages are quiet and chemical free living areas.

57 Macalester – 3 juniors and seniors (1 single, 1 double)
63 Macalester – 6 juniors and seniors (3 doubles)

Laundry Facilities: 53 Macalester Street has a laundry room that is shared with 63 and 57 Macalester Street.

Computer Labs/Internet Access: The nearest computer lab is in the library. There is Ethernet access available in every cottage.
Lounges: There is a lounge with couches and chairs as well as a dining area in each Cottage.

Kirk Hall is located along the eastern boundary of campus along Snelling Avenue. Originally constructed in 1926 and most recently renovated in 1993, Kirk was the second residence hall built at Macalester and is divided into nine co-ed and single sex sections. Section 8 is home to Macalester’s Hebrew House. Section 9 is a quiet living area.
Resident Information: Kirk houses 153 juniors and seniors
Bathrooms: Two bathrooms in each section of Kirk.
Laundry Facilities: Laundry facilities are located in the basement of section 8.
Kitchen: There is a kitchen in the basement of section 2 with a microwave and a sink.
Computer Labs/Internet Access: The nearest computer lab is the 24-hour computer lab in the basement of Kirk. All rooms are Ethernet accessible.
Lounges: There is a lounge in the basement of section 2 and a formal lounge in section 8, equipped with a microwave oven.
General Room Information: Rooms in Kirk are both singles and suites of two or three people. All suites have own lounge or common room.

The Grand-Cambridge Apartments are located at the corner of Grand Avenue and Cambridge, and are situated on the 2nd and 3rd floors, above the rental space. One block away from campus is Macalester’s newest addition to “on-campus” living. The new apartments were designed for juniors and seniors who are seeking apartment-style living, but do not wish to lose easy accessibility to Macalester facilities.
Resident Information: The Grand-Cambridge Apartments consist of 8 apartments with a total of 31 juniors and seniors living within.
Bathrooms: Each apartment contains 2 bathrooms (1 equipped with a shower and 1 equipped with a bathtub).
Laundry Facilities: Each floor of the Grand-Cambridge apartments has a laundry room.
Kitchen: There is a full kitchen with full-size refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, stove and microwave oven.
Computer Labs/Internet Access: All rooms are Ethernet accessible. The nearest labs are in the library and Kagin Commons.
