Housing Agreement

Macalester College Room and Board Contract, 2013-2014

This contract, made this day, is a room and board contract between you and Macalester College.

  1. Macalester College has this day agreed to provide a living space for the academic year 2013-2014. On-campus housing is provided for registered, single students.
  2. A $100.00 cancellation fee will apply if this contract is cancelled for a residence hall or language house space. Grand Cambridge Apartment contracts may not be cancelled.
  3. This contract constitutes the entire agreement between the student and Macalester College pertaining to all housing assignments during the academic year 2013-2014.
  4. Residence Hall Safety:
    The foundation of the College's Safety Program in the residential halls is a partnership between the student and the College. The College has responsibility for maintaining a reasonably safe environment which may include such things as: working door locks, fire alarms and extinguishers, and education and awareness programming on issues of safety. The student has a similar responsibility: to be aware of potentially dangerous interpersonal situations, to lock doors, and to report strangers and unsafe or damaged equipment.

    Any student user of Macalester facilities or services is required to comply with the Campus Security Act and Sex Crimes Prevention Act of 2000, including registration with appropriate State Agencies.  Failure to comply with the requirement may jeopardize one's status as a Macalester student.

  7. Macalester College or their agent shall have the right to enter the dwelling unit of the student under the following stipulations and understandings. The College in turn agrees not to enter or allow anyone under their charge to enter the room in cases other than those mentioned below, or by first going through the proper proceedings as outlined in the Macalester College Handbook.
  8. In an effort to house all registered students who wish on-campus housing, it may become necessary to place an individual in overflow housing. In addition, the Residential Life department retains the right to consolidate housing space through an assignment or reassignment process.
  9. By signing this contract the student understands that Residential Life has the right to implement any additional housing policies so long as it is deemed proper and for the good of the student body.
  10. Nothing contained in this contract shall be construed to waive or limit the protection of the student body under any statute of the State of Minnesota or ordinances of the City of Saint Paul.
