Mission Statement: The mission of the student-led Residence Hall Association (RHA) at Macalester College is to make campus life comfortable and enjoyable through the allocation of funds and advocacy for all residential students. 

Meeting Times: RHA meetings are open to all Macalester College on-campus residents and take place on select Sunday evenings (see forum schedule below) from 7-8 pm in the Turck Hall Sounds of Blackness Lounge

Why RHA?

RHA helps residential students improve the quality of their on-campus living experience by providing an open forum for student feedback and funding for resident-driven event programming. It encourages student leadership, effective advocacy, and provides opportunities for student engagement, learning and development in accordance with Macalester’s core values.

How to get funding through RHA?

Do you have an idea for an activity or event that you would like to host for students who live in the residence halls or houses? Would you like funding (up to $100 maximum) for the event? If so, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Develop an activity/event plan, including a proposed itemized budget and date
  2. Fill out this funding request form at least 10 days before your proposed dates
  3. Watch for an e-mail from the Funding Squad leader inviting you to come present your idea and answer any questions at the next RHA Funding Squad meeting (Sundays at 7 pm in Turck Sounds of Blackness Lounge). If you cannot attend, you will need to send another person to represent your plan. The Funding Squad will vote on your proposal at the meeting.

RHA reserves the right to deny requests and/or provide partial funding. RHA will provide reasoning for their decisions.

Examples of events/activities approved in the past: floor t-shirts, floor/building dinners, end of the semester gatherings, etc.

RHA Residential FEEDBACK Forums

Once a month, RHA leaders host a forum on specific aspects of the residential experience at Macalester. These events are open to any and all residents and provide a venue to share ideas (large and small) about how to improve the on-campus living environment.
