My ‘Remember When’ stories:
· The Wallace Hall Attic Girls

I’ve been married to Barry for 47 years. We had three children, one deceased. We have five terrific grandchildren who light up our life. I taught for 30 years ending my career as a preschool teacher. Barry loves golf (I try) and I play a lot of bridge and enjoy knitting. I also volunteer at a hospice house. We love living in Duluth with Lake Superior as our neighbor.

I cherish the memories of those years long ago at Mac. Fifty years — wow!

My journey has been full and I have worn many hats:

  • Teacher in kindergarten, special education, and early childhood education.
  • Miss Jane of Tree Top House and a producer of Hey There Somebody at KDAL T.V. in Duluth for 17 years.
  • Wife and mother of two daughters.
I have been a widow for the past seven years — and I laugh and talk with my four delightful grandchildren.

Now as I travel on my journey I find myself volunteering in adult education, teaching four days a week to English Language Learners from all over the world.

It is so nice to reflect upon the good things and friendships centered on Mac.
Eighteen years altogether were spent teaching — substituting, half-time teaching and full-time. Our three children graduated from college and were married. Today we have seven grandchildren (ages 5-20 years old). What a joy they are! We are truly blessed! Also, retirement and traveling are great! Life is good.
