My ‘Remember When’ stories:
· The hidden blessing of required Phy-Ed.
After Mac, I received my MBA at the U. of Chicago and in 1961 married Ann Armantrout ’61. We moved back to Fergus Falls to work in the family business, Victor Lundeen Company — a printing, office products, book and gift store.
We have four children, two of whom graduated from Mac — Susan (now in Harrogate, Tenn.) in 1985 and Paul (Fergus Falls) in 1990. The other two, Julia (New York City) and Kathryn (Culver City, Calif.) graduated from Hamline and St. Thomas — thereby completing the St. Paul triangle of the finest liberal arts colleges around.
Business has taken a lot of my time, but Ann joined in to create a fine gift store for us. Paul joined us after getting his MBA at the Simon School in Rochester, N.Y. My hobbies and pastimes have been golf, pheasant hunting, birding, hiking in Montana, and summers on Otter Tail Lake canoeing, sailing and now pontooning. I have been the Official Loon Counter (DNR Non-Game Dept.) on the lake for the past eight years — a duty I don't take lightly, but in which the whole family gets involved.
We have four grandchildren, one in Fergus Falls and three currently living in Tennessee where we visit to watch them grow and play.
I have been active in many community activities and currently serve on the YMCA Foundation Board and The Pioneer Retirement Foundation. I have also been active as a Rotarian for last 40 years and served as one of its past presidents.
