A mother of two and a teacher of hundreds, I lived in Chicago for 40 years. Several entries in National History Day are my career highlights.

Returning to Minnesota upon retirement, I became a first-time homeowner and gardener. I read and discuss fiction with both adult book clubs and a third-grade reading-enrichment group. Mary Gwen Owens' Drama Chorus skills are honed with an RSVP readers' theatre group that makes weekly visits to schools. Road trips to Chicago for daughter-directed plays and to Gillette, Wyo., for grandchildren's school events provide variety.
