My ‘Remember When’ story:
· Kirk Hall's ice sculpture entry
A happy 50th to all my classmates!!
After graduation, I served six months active duty in the military. I came back to Hibbing in April of 1959 to join the family business. We had several automobile agencies and tire dealerships which kept me busy for the next 42 years. Sherry and I met on a blind date and were married seven months later. We look forward to celebrating our 45th anniversary in June. We were blessed with two wonderful daughters. Sarah, who currently resides in Toronto, has 8-year-old twin boys. Rebecca lives in Oakdale and has a daughter, 8, and a son, 6.
In 1982 our family started a foundation to provide scholarships for students in Hibbing and the surrounding communities. Over the next 23 years the foundation gave over 170 scholarships. Other grants were given for local education projects. In 2006 we became part of the Hibbing Foundation/Minnesota Foundation. I continue to serve on the Hibbing Foundation board. I have been very active in my community and church over the years.
My recreation involved fishing, hunting, and especially golf. During the many rounds of golf, I was fortunate to get a hole in one and a double eagle. My golf ended in 2003 when in February of 2004 I was diagnosed with a rare vasculitis. I spent two months in the hospital and then received out patient therapy for many months. I continue to have numbness in my right hand and foot. My stamina has been greatly reduced. I feel fortunate that I am mobile and can drive. I manage to get out and about regularly. I look forward to the reunion!
