Keeping in touch with a SPAN friend
After graduating, I taught sixth grade in Roseville and fifth grade in Shaker Heights. I was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years to raise my three children: Steve, Suzanne and Gary.
Steve and family live on 40 acres in the foothills of the Rockies outside Fort Collins, Colorado. Steve has three children: Dylan, Mara and Talon. Steve works in construction.
Suzanne, Cliff and Jacob live in Glendale, Arizona. I love visiting them specially when I can watch Jacob play baseball. I drive to visit them and take side trips in the many national parks between Lincoln and Glendale. Suzanne is the Director of Water Quality for the city of Scottsdale; Cliff is a salesman; and Jacob is 12 and in the 7th grade
Gary, Michelle and Carter (1) live in Springfield, Mo. Gary graduated from Macalester and then earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry at University of Washington. He is an assistant professor of Chemistry at Missouri State. Michelle is in medical social work.
I returned to teaching again in 1977 and taught 5th, 6th or 7th grade depending on the school. Sixth and seventh grade science was always my favorite and environmental science my passion. I was honored to be recognized for my work with the Teacher of the Year Award.
Through the years I have enjoyed many types of volunteer work and participating in the development of many friend’s boards for some of our Lincoln treasures. Since retiring almost 10 years ago my favorites have been my church’s Food Pantry and helping in any way I can at Spring Creek Prairie and our local Nature Center.
Traveling has also stayed an important part of my life. Visiting family is the most fun but recent genealogical trips to Europe and visiting a friend in New Zealand have been great.
