I have recently retired — again, actually. In 2004, my 14-year stint at the University of Minnesota came to a close. My work there in public relations and marketing included editing, writing, and project management, so it was a natural, I guess, to keep using those skills. For the past four years, I switched to work in the private sector — trying my hand at writing sales copy for a successful and growing Internet business, as well as freelancing in everything from newsletter publishing to writing profiles for the Heritage Gallery at the U of M. I just retired from the Internet company and am currently spending most of my time in a prolonged move from Minneapolis's Marcy Holmes Neighborhood to a townhouse in St. Louis Park, which I am happily sharing with partner Dick LaBree ’62. Know anyone who would like to buy a nice secluded home in Apple Valley or a cozy townhouse near the action on Hennepin Nordeast?
My Mac Memories:
Turck Hall open houses and racing to make "curfew" through the fish bowl; the bus strike of 1960(?) when seven or eight of us piled into a taxi to go Christmas shopping; cold and windy days waiting for a bus to travel to "practice teaching" in St. Paul's high schools; dances at the Union; studying for hours in the carrels at the library; stretching the weekend allotment by eating a hotdog and RC Cola for 50 cents at the ScotStop. Hey, there's lots more — but let's save something for June! See you there!
