Lecture by Jim Dawes, associate professor of English and author of a new book exploring the roles and complexities of storytelling in humanitarian work. Sponsored by the Classes of 1988, ’89, & ’90. Open to all.

Many alumni from the Class of 1958 chose to become educators. We will discuss how our time at Macalester influenced this decision and how the challenges of classroom teaching changed over the years. Learn about Mac’s new initiatives for sustainability including a walking tour of the gardens, green roofs, and the wind turbine. A Class of 1958 event.

Zero Waste All-Class Picnic
Tent on Lawn
Gather for an old-fashioned barbecue with live music and festive entertainment for the whole family including tarot reading, face painting, caricatures, palm reading, and music. Our emcee, President Brian Rosenberg, will present door prizes and the award for highest class attendance. Be sure to recycle properly. Instructions on tables and at compostable bins. Photo Tent will be open during the picnic.

The Adventures of Juan Bobo Puppet Show
Meet at the Bell Tower
Inspired by a Puerto Rican folk character, this puppet show produced by Open Eye Figure Theatre (website) tells of a world turned upside-down by three devils. Juan Bobo, or "Foolish John," must set off and make things right again. Performed in a combination of Spanish and English. Family-friendly. Was a huge hit last year, so bring the kids and your favorite lawn blanket.

Join Warren Gregory, Class of 1981, an experienced evaluator of fine wine. He has worked in the hotel, restaurant and wine business for 26 years. He achieved certification from the International Court of Master Sommeliers and is currently working as a restaurant wine consultant for New France Imports where he leads educational seminars and designs wine lists and training manuals.

She currently performs with the jazz ensemble Moore by Four.
