Elementary Russian I and II

In this course, students will learn the basics of contemporary standard Russian. All four language skills will be practiced: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The course textbook will be supplemented by audio materials, literature, film, advertisements, and selections from the Russian press. Students will meet three days a week with the course instructor and once a week in smaller groups with a native speaker, who will give individual attention to the oral aspects of Russian including pronunciation, intonation, and idiomatic expressions.
