MACALESTER COLLEGE
In the event that a situation arises, either on or off (near) campus, that, in the judgment Director of Safety and Security and in consultation with the Dean of Students, constitutes an ongoing threat, a campus wide timely warning: will be issued. The warning will be issued through the college e-mail system to Faculty, Staff and Students and the campus' and a Bulletin Flash notice.
Depending on the particular circumstances of the crime, especially in all situations that could pose an immediate threat to the community and individuals, the Safety and Security Office will also post a notice on the Safety and Security web site at: <http://www.macalester.edu/security/security-alerts/index.html> providing the college community with more immediate notification. In such instances, a copy of the notice is posted in Residence Halls and other campus buildings. Anyone with information warranting a timely warning should report, by phone, the circumstances to the Director of Macalester Security and Security x6555 or in person at the Safety and Security Office.
The Security Office has devised several levels of communicating accurate information to the campus community in the event there has been a crime or criminal behavior on or close to campus. Alerts and Warning/Watches are posted in a timely manner.
The following are examples of the color of paper and the basic content of the information posted for the different levels of Alerts.
