WELCOME NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS!
Remember your Safety and Security is a partnership between YOU, and all of the Macalester Community members.
Please take time to think about your safety. Sign up - register for the MAC ALERT text messaging system. Log into "1600grand" and follow the directions. Use the Safe Walk Program call x6699 Fire Safety, know where your building exits are located and your designated meeting places for all buildings you will be using. Do not tamper with or disable any life safety equipment or hang any items from fire sprinkler piping or sprinkler heads. If you are victim of a crime call 911 immediately and make a report. Follow up with a call to Campus Security at x6555. Immediately report suspicious persons or behavior to Campus Security at x6555. Always lock your Residence Hall room door while away or asleep. Do not allow an unknown person to "tailgate" or following you into a Residence Hall. Protect your Identity; do NOT give your Social Security or Credit Card Number except to known and trusted sources, even then be very careful. If you are victim of ID theft, immediately call your bank and make a report to the local police. Keep track of your belongings, don't leave your back pack unattended. Mark items with your name, state drivers or ID number. Write down model and serial numbers take photos of your stuff. Be careful crossing Grand Avenue remember vehicles have right-of-way. Frequently Back up your computer data to CD's or floppy disks. Ask questions of your RA or call Campus Safety and Security about safety and security issues. Return to Safety & Security August 2008
