  • Save the Date - Spring Professional Activities Workshop May 18-19
  • Call for Course Renewal Proposals
    The Jan Serie Center for Scholarship and Teaching seeks proposals for $500 or $1000 to enable curricular innovation that allows a course to meet the new writing requirement.  This call for proposals seeks applications from all continuing faculty that would enable them to develop or revise courses, modules, activities, or assignments in ways that allow the class to meet either the Argumentative Writing (wA) or Writing Practice (wP) criteria, which are listed below. Funded faculty will be expected to attend a 1.5-day “Teaching writing” workshop on May 20 and 21, 2015 led by Dr. Gary Hafer, author of Embracing Writing: ways to teach reluctant writers in Any College course.The development of new curricular materials and reporting need to be completed by August 1, 2015.

  • Professor Paul Overvoorde (Biology) has been appointed as the Serie Center’s acting director for academic year 2014-2015. For the past three years, he has served as associate director with responsibility for leading a $1.3M science education award from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) to Macalester College.
