Campus Center 243
At any time, students who wish to pursue an external complaint of sexual harassment or sexual assault may do so. To pursue external action, you may contact the St. Paul Police 651-643-3022, the Minneapolis Police, 612-348-3245, the Minnesota Department of Human Rights at 1-800-652-9747, or a private attorney. Advocates at Sexual Offense Services of Ramsey County (SOS) are well prepared to provide guidance as you navigate the legal system.
If you have experienced sexual assault and think that at some point you may wish to pursue a legal complaint, it can be beneficial to get an evidentiary exam immediately following the assault and to file a police report about the incident. The recommended hospital for these exams is Regions Hospital. More information about medical issues and sexual assault can be found on the Regions Hospital website. Students can engage in a legal process separately or at the same time as the Macalester complaint process.
For assistance in reporting to the police, you can contact the Title IX Coordinator, Karla Benson Rutten.
