Visting Assistant Professor
Alexandra Bergmann's father is from the USA and her mother is from Spain. She studied elementary school in New York and later moved to Granada, Spain where she attended high school and completed her Licenciatura. She has had a variety of teaching opportunities, from all levels of Spanish language classes to intermediate and advanced courses on Hispanic culture.
Being bilingual and bicultural enables her to draw upon her own cultural and personal experiences as she teaches students to effectively communicate in Spanish and to gain an appreciation for another language and culture while interacting with someone who fully understands where they are coming from. One of her most important personal goals as a teacher is to create a hunger to learn more that will motivate students to practice and to reflect on the topics that were covered in class long after the semester is over and grades are assigned.
Her academic interests are in the field of Peninsular Literature and History.
