Emergency Procedures
Macalester College strives to establish a continuing state of readiness for the protection of College employees, students and visitors in the event of an emergency condition such as fire, severe thunderstorm, tornado, explosion, bomb threat or serious accident or illness. This plan is designed to protect lives and property, preserve the structural integrity of facilities and to ensure continuity of essential services. Macalester College faculty, staff and students are invited to register their mobile-phone numbers and email address with the college’s Emergency Notification System – “Mac Alert”. This system will be used by the Safety and Security Department only in the most extreme cases involving the safety of the college community. For more information see Campus Offices – Security Office or the Security Office website.
Safety and Security Office website lists comprehensive information about a number of responses to emergency situations and can be found at macalester.edu/security/emergency-procedures/index.html
