Access to the Arts
There's so much demand for this project. I can't wait to see my students working in the renovated studios.

Access to the Arts
Renovations will create exceptional spaces for Macalester’s art faculty
and majors to use, but equally important to the project is drawing in
countless non-majors. At Macalester, we see the arts not as an add-on,
but rather as an integral component of a rigorous liberal arts education.
Until students practice doing art, they can’t fully understand it. Art classes
for non-majors go beyond fulfilling the fine arts requirement: they help
our students develop a deeper sense of empathy—a universal language—
that’s exactly in sync with the college’s international focus. They take those
lessons with them, long after their art coursework is done for the semester.
