American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment
learn more
In 2007, Macalester College President Rosenberg signed the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, which committed Macalester College to becoming climate neutral (no net greenhouse gas emissions). To accomplish this goal, the college will inventory greenhouse gas emissions on campus, develop a emissions reduction action plan with targets and timetables, immediately reduce greenhouse gas emissions by adopting some short-term actions, and integrate sustainability into the curriculum. As part of this commitment, the College is providing subsidized bus passes for students, staff and faculty and is purchasing energy star appliances when available as the two short-term actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. President Brian Rosenberg is Presidents Climate Commitment Leadership Circle member. Click here for an update on the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment.
