Macalester Receives Highest Grade from the College Sustainability Report Card 2010

Macalester has received an overall grade of "A-" for its commitment to sustainability, placing it among the top 26 schools nationally and in Canada.
The grade of "A-," issued by the College Sustainability Report Card 2010, was the highest grade given this year. Schools whose campus operations and endowment practices merited an overall grade of “A-” qualified as Overall College Sustainability Leaders–the highest level of recognition. In 2007, Macalester’s overall grade was a “C.”
The College Sustainability Report Card website, GreenReportCard.org, is the first to provide in-depth sustainability profiles for hundreds of colleges in all 50 states and Canada.
In contrast to the academic focus on sustainability in research and teaching, the Report Card examines colleges and universities as institutions, through the lens of sustainability.
