Macalester Receives Minnesota Waste Wise Leader Award - Macalester College received a Minnesota Waste Wise Leader Award in recognition of the MacFreeSwap, Food Waste as Pig Food, and Move-out Waste Reduction Program, among other sustainability programs. The Minnesota Waste Wise Leader Award is given to Minnesota businesses who have shown true leadership in sustainable business practices including waste reduction, recycling, energy efficiency, purchasing, and employee involvement. Macalester Fieldhouse Reconstructed as Horsebarn -
The Leonard Center stands on the site of the former fieldhouse, circa 1954. As part of Macalester’s commitment to sustainability, Macalester set two goals for the demolition of the old building: minimize materials sent to a landfill and preserve and repurpose as much of the building as possible. read more
